IJL at the UN Human Rights Council: Confronting Antisemitism, 25 Years After Durban

The fight against racism must include the fight against antisemitism.
Addressing the 63rd session of the UN Human Rights Council under Agenda Item 9, IJL CEO Adv. Sharon Banyan called for a critical reassessment of the Durban framework, twenty-five years after its adoption.
Our statement warned against the misuse of anti-racism and human rights language to promote antisemitic narratives, turning legitimate criticism of policies into collective blame, exclusion and intimidation of Jews worldwide.
IJL urged the UN to recognize contemporary antisemitism in all its forms and apply the IHRA Working Definition of Antisemitism as part of its efforts to eliminate all forms of racism.
We remain committed to ensuring that the universal promise of human rights extends to Jews everywhere.
